“Just Black” by Tehkseven; Great new lightweight Theme

Fresh from his last great Maemo 5 Theme, Tehkseven’s bought us another great creation in the form of his “Just Black” super lightweight theme : The theme weighs in at just 280Kb and uses default icons to keep its size down. I’ve always been a bit bothered by themes that are too big, and might hamper the performance of my device. Just Black is a refreshingly light theme that makes your S60 Symbian device look stylish, without affecting its performance at all. Not to mention, it looks pretty snazzy on a black color device like my N82 and N97. You can download Just Black over at TehkSeven’s Website.   Sun, Nov 08 2009, 21:56

Thanks to Micky over at NokiaUsers, we’ve found out that an Official Windows Live Messenger Client has been released for S60v5 Touch devices (like the Nokia N97, 5800 XM, X6, etc), over on the Ovi Store. The client is available free from the Ovi Store, and as you’d expect, lets you login and chat with your Windows Live Messenger Contacts. Just like the non-touch version of the client, this adds a tab to your contacts application, so you can browse through your Windows Live Contacts, and also adds your Hotmail account to your Device’s Built-in Email App. You can download Windows Live Messsenger over at the Ovi Store. With all the hype about Maemo nowadays, its not unusual to want some of that on your Symbian Device. Luckily good ol’ Symbian Themer Tehkseven has made an awesome Maemo 5 Theme for your S60 device. The theme is compatible with both S60v3 and S60v5 devices (and there’s an Eseries version too) and looks pretty darn sweet. I’m currently using it on my N97, and I love it ! To download the theme, head on over to TehkSeven’s Website and check it out. Earlier today, Opera went ahead and released their Opera Mobile v10 Beta Browser for S60 Symbian Mobile devices. What’s the difference between this and Opera Mini 5 ? Well for one thing, its a native Symbian application so its much faster than the Java Opera Mini app. Plus because of this, its also more responsive, uses the battery more efficiently and has a couple more features too, like selecting text, multiple Tabs and Adaptive Page Zoom. The browser works pretty darn well at rendering full pages. It rendered the full desktop version of the ZCJ homepage pretty fast. Unfortunately there’s no Flash support so you cant view Youtube videos, etc. It also seems to use up a lot more ram. You can read the full list of features, and download the app from the Opera Mobile 10 Beta Page. To download it straight to your device, just go to m.opera.com/mobile on your device browser. To help you get familiar with the various features of the app... details >>>

Google today released the new version 2.03 of their Google Mobile App, which now includes Voice Search, for S60 Symbian devices. This is a pretty cool feature, which makes searching the internet on your mobile a lot easier. Just startup the Google App, hold down the Green calling key and speak your search question. Here’s a short video from Google India, so show you exactly how this App works : You can download the Google Mobile App v2.03 by visiting m.Google.com on your Device Handset.
