The Ovi Store’s been in business for about more than 5 months right now. Bill Perry is the Sr. Services Marketing Manager for Forum Nokia, and posted the statistics of the Ovi Store so far. The following stats are from 26 May through 31 October: * Available on over 100 different Nokia devices (60+ Symbian S60 devices) * Active users from over 180 countries * Developers from 65 countries are distributing content * 8 countries today have local content, local language support and mobile billing: UK, Spain, France, Germany, Singapore, Australia, Italy, Russia. Remember back when we mentioned that the Ovi Store has begun to allow you to re-download your Apps ? Well Nokia’s finally gone on record to officially state that the Ovi Store, now supports re-downloading your Premium Content from the Ovi Store. “I’m pleased to share the news that we’ve made redownloading of premium content available for Store users. Redownloading is as simple as it sounds – it lets Ovi Store users, who previously purchased and downloaded content to their device, to redownload, recover, and restore the content in the event that something happens to it. Think of it as content insurance.” Of course to allow this ‘feature’ to happen you need to be on the Latest v1.05 of the Ovi Store application. Ovi Store has enabled you to redownload any apps, games or content from the Ovi Store. If anything happens to your Ovi downloads you’ll now be able to log back onto the Ovi Store and, with the device used for the original purchase, redownload anything you’ve already paid for. The guys over at the Ovi Blog think of it as “content insurance”. The latest release of the Ovi Store brings with it a simple way to restore any content you’ve already purchased or downloaded. The guys have even done a quick video (below) to show you what you need to do. What’s more, the latest release also brings improved search so finding more of what you want will be easier than ever. The Ovi Store Client got a small little update to version 1.05(387) today. I’m not entirely sure if this is only for S60v5 Touch Devices, or for S60v3 devices too (The Ovi Store refuses to let the E75 download a client for some weird reason, same situation for the N82). The Ovi Store Client on your device should alert you that there’s a new version. If not, you can head to Store.Ovi.com and download the update yourself. I havent honestly noticed anything new in the update. Using the store seems to be just a tiny bit faster but nothing major. Installed the updated Ovi Store Client on your device ? Just a little heads up y’all. The Ovi Store is apparently going to be down for maintenance this week. And according to the blog post, it might take a while. The Store will be unavailable on : - Tuesday October 13th at 7 AM EST the service will be unavailable for approximately 2 – 3 hours - Friday, October 16th starting at 6 AM, the service will be unavailable for approximately 7 hours The Ovi Store Publish service is also going to be down for the week : Note for publishers: The Publish service at http://publish.ovi.com will be unavailable from Monday, October 12th starting at 7 AM EST until the afternoon of Friday, October 16th. Apparently the scheduled maintenance is for “Renovations” and “Enhancements” to the Ovi Store. Here’s hoping for the best eh ? We’re a tiny bit late with this bit of news, but one of the main initial problems with the Nokia Ovi Store, was that once you downloaded an application or file, if you happened to have to delete that app, or format your device, there was no way to re-download that particular app, or list of apps that you previously downloaded and installed on your device. Well not anymore. The crew over at AllAboutSymbian found out that you can now re-download any apps that you purchased or downloaded previously on the Ovi Store. However, apparently this is not currently universal on all Nokia devices. It appears tat you require Ovi Store v1.05 (271) or newer of the app. AllAboutSymbian have confirmed that the Re-download process works on the Nokia N97, E55, N86, 5800 XpressMusic, and E75 so far.
