We have been waiting on an incoming wire from overseas to our business. It is a very large amount of money (more than $5M). Apparently, the money came into the country via SWIFT to a US bank. It was then sent out from a new york bank via Fedwire to our bank. Our bank claims that Fedwire is "holding" the money, but I suspect that our bank has actually placed a hold on the funds. The transfer amount reads "pending" in our account. Can they hold this money indefinitely, or are they waiting for something to occur in order to release the funds? And, what can we do to push the process? we have been on the phone with them 3 times a day, every day, and they say there are " no issues" and they "expect" to release the funds that day or the next day...and then they don't!
