Installing "Old Hardware" Drivers On Windows 7

Submitted :   Thu, Nov 12 2009, 00:07

Dealing with the compatibility issue Recently, I was stuck with installing drivers on my computer loaded with a newly purchased copy of Windows 7 Ultimate OS . I'm referring to a Pentium 4 processor, Intel 845G 64MB integrated graphics and 512MB DDR desktop. Windows 7 seemed to run well, with the luxurious features of Windows 7 like Aero and Media center turned off. The only bad thing is that Windows 7 is not very friendly with the older stuff. "Many" of the older applications (including drivers) were failing to install on the new OS. After some troubleshooting efforts, i found a simple way to deal with the compatibility issue. Steps to install old hardware drivers on Windows 7: Install a freeware file compression software 7 Zip, Jump to the location where you have the setup/zipped driver file you are willing to install, Right click on the setup file, unzip and extract it to any convenient location, Now you can try updating... details >>>

The Need For Speed Continues...

Submitted :   Thu, Nov 12 2009, 00:05

Seeding up the OS We know that a better PC Gaming experience comes only if the system resources are sufficiently available. If the system is out dated, it needs to be upgraded. If the games are still lagging at play, some even consider upgrading it further. This is when there is a need to check where and how to system resources are being used. There are many cases where the computer hardware is sufficient to run the game flawlessly but the Operating System is not properly setup or configured and the users without knowing this fact, spend more money to make their system run better. A long time ago, one of my friends bought a new high end HP Laptop with almost all the attractive features. I really liked that system but, the only thing that irked my eye was that is was preloaded or say "cursed" with Windows Vista. My friend was happy with the OS and why wouldn't he be, he was a newbie. He enjoyed the candy coated looks and the GUI. A month later, i got ... details >>>

Hardening And Securing It

Submitted :   Thu, Nov 12 2009, 00:03

Internet & Network security have always been a matter of great concern and will continue to be, there is no doubt. Content theft, network intrusion, phishing, password cracking, key logging e.t.c are some of the most common types of attacks that take place everyday all around the world. If a "hacker/attacker" is intending to hack into something, no matter how secure the target is, he'll do anything to get his job done. This doesn't mean it's easy to hack into anything and everything. Hacking is only possible if a security system allows a hacker intrude in, whether through a loop hole or by breaking in forcefully. Again, loop holes can only be exploited if they are successfully found. If the security system is smart enough or the loop holes are timely identified and blocked, it's always better. Earlier i had written a similar article on "How To Achieve Better Security" which explains an unconventional way to keep away malware from your system . To add more,... details >>>

Clean System - A Key To Faster OS

Submitted :   Thu, Nov 12 2009, 00:03

Chosing a right software to do the job We know that sorting the files and folders is necessary to make them easily accessible. Defragmentation is one way to make programs execute faster. While cleaning and optimizing the internal system will make the overall system work better. Yeah,  it's as important as cleaning up your bowel system. By stating "internal system" i am referring to the registry, temporary files and other caching directories in Windows OS. Some handy and free applications like CCleaner and Comodo System Cleaner are excellent to quickly boost the system speed. CCleaner Features: www.ccleaner.com/features Comodo System Cleaner Features and Comparison: www.system-cleaner.comodo.com/comparison I have tried other registry cleaning programs but they tend to delete even those entries that are crucial for the stability of the system. CCleaner and Comodo are safe and stable. Make sure you donot clean up "prefeteched data" too... details >>>
