The lighter the platform, the easier it is for automakers to eke out additional miles from each gallon of gas and therefore lower carbon emissions. According to a report from Autocar in the UK, though, Citroen is taking a different approach for a new high-efficiency version of its C6 executive saloon. We're familiar with Peugeot-Citroen's new HYbrid4 powertrain system , which is currently slated for the Peugeot 3008 crossover for 2011, and it's this same drivetrain that's being touted for the C6 sedan. The French automaker's hybrid technology would reportedly bolt into the midsize car and replace the entire rear suspension assembly. Up front, a turbocharged diesel engine with 163 horsepower would be fitted with stop/start and mated up to a six-speed automated manual gearbox.
